Professionally recorded instrumental performances for game and film scores

The Process

Composers consult with me about their project, send me stems, demo recordings, performance notes and/or sheet music; I then create clean, expressive, and properly gain-staged instrumental performances to be integrated into their score.

The Studio

Music studio with soundproof black foam walls, computer screen displaying digital audio workstation, microphone, headphones, speakers, musical instruments, and audio equipment.

All recordings are made in a soundproofed recording booth using professional equipment - no ambient or fan noise, reflections, or unwanted colorations.

Instruments

Antique drawing of a person holding a guitar, wearing traditional clothing, with a calm expression.
An antique illustration of a man with a large hat sitting on a rock, playing a flute.

I am also proficient at the instruments listed below:

• viola da gamba • suling • daf • tar • guzheng • guqin • dizi • oud • nylon, steel string, 12 string, and slide guitars • ukulele • banjolin • bowed banjo • morin khuur • Irish whistles • fretted cello • accordion • udu • assorted percussion • voice •

Instruments can be recorded in mono or stereo.

Cubase is used for multi-tracking and to provide audio in any format, bit depth and sample rate. Pre-processing, including compression, eq, and gain staging can be applied.

Testimonial

Chris is the ideal remote session-musician. Virtues I would highlight: he plays a plethora of instruments, recordings are of great quality, fantastic musicability (captured the energy I wanted to convey really well), super responsive, easy to get going with “play the MIDI track” without needing scores. He made the otherwise synth-heavy soundtrack come to life, and the film directors loved it. Look no further; hire Chris.
