Ukelele

I teach ukulele in my studio at the Arts HUB in Lafayette, CO, at Saint Stephens Church in Longmont, CO, and on Zoom.

The ubiquitous ukulele is a fantastic instrument for beginners and children, but is also an incredibly versatile instrument that can create beautiful music in just about any style. It is a real joy to play, and a continual surprise!

I teach the fundamentals of ukulele through both aural learning and written materials. After we get a grasp of the basics, the sky is the limit! Fingerpicking, advanced strumming, and opening up the fingerboard to exploration are all a part of expanding the potential of this little instrument. Any style is possible, even baroque, jazz or Irish. Your inspiration will be the guide.

For younger children wishing to learn the guitar, the uke is a great choice to begin with because it is of a manageable size for their smaller hands. The basic skills transfer over very easily from one instrument to the next, which is why it’s also a great part of any guitarist’s tool kit.

As with all instruments I teach, learning to sing, composing songs, developing rhythm, and developing your overall understanding of music theory are all parts of the program as they pertain to your goals.

As a student, you will have the opportunity to play for a live audience at recitals, held at the Arts Hub.

All Lessons are also available online via Zoom. Contact me to set up an appointment.
